The Sun Also Rises features two sets of songs: Five obscure tracks of African origin, recorded between the early ’80s and this past year, alongside five reinterpretations by artists drawn from the Scandinavian dance-music world. The album was initiated by Quartz+Co to create a musical reflection of its activities in Africa, where the company, which is based in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, has worked extensively to aid local entrepreneurship. To create the album, Quartz+Co called upon the services of This Is Care Of, a multimedia arts collective centered around the musicians Rasmus Bille Bahncke and Mikkel Hess and the designer Jacob Wildschioedtz—all Danish natives living in New York City. New incarnation of the Hess Is More live band takes form. Now a six piece band of New York based musicians. Yet, we all manage to squeeze into the C/O studio for rehearsals! Michael Hanf, Matt Parker, Tom Baker, David Mason, Martin Vejerano, Mikkel Hess + extended family Nikolaj Hess, Andrew Frawley & Jim Orso.

3 month concert residency at Nublu Club, featuring collaborations with various visual and performance artists, curated by Claire Grube, Jacob Wildschiødtz and Mikkel Hess.
